Genital warts are caused by a specific strain of the human papillomavirus. Transmission is caused by skin-to-skin contact, usually by sexual intercourse. The warts appear between one to nine months after infection. However, human papillomavirus can lay dormant for years and the sufferer will not know or show any symptoms. It is understood that the common risk factors for becoming infected with genital warts (and most STD’s) is having multiple sex partners, reduced immune system capability, and smoking.
Many mothers become really afraid when they discover they have genital warts when they are pregnant. They of course are aware of the risks it poses to their unborn baby. This mainly occurs when the warts have developed inside the vaginal tract putting the baby at the risk of developing warts in the mouth and the throat.
There are different methods that works for some people but not for the Others. This is because different people react differently to different modes of treatment where some modes of treatment will only make the warts worse. During pregnancy, removing warts become more and more difficult. some women who are infected are therefore not able to give birth the natural way and are forced to go for caesarean section; for fear that the child’s passing will cause a hemorrhage and put the mother’s life at risk as well.
WARNING! Never pick or scratch warts… Tell your partner, practice safe sex… Limit touching warts, always wash your hands thoroughly…use hot water and soap!
