The biggest and most hardworking organ in the body is not just the brain, the liver is in fact just as hardworking and as important. Often overlooked and unappreciated the liver works full time in assuring that toxins that pass through it do not escape into the blood stream and infiltrate the other organs. Additionally the liver aside from its endless task of detoxifying the body, it works to produce energy needed by the body to function properly. This is achieved by proper carbohydrate regulation along with sustaining protein metabolism, blood sugar levels, fat burning, monitoring hormonal activity and maintaining protein metabolism. Liver detoxification occurs on a daily basis, the liver determines whether a substance is toxic or not, toxins will be broken down into smaller pieces and can be disposed of in various ways. Sweating, tears, urinating, defecating and even breathing are ways of disposing these toxins. What people fail to realize is that eventually the liver needs help in detoxifying every now and then especially when a person consumes food products that are harmful for the body. Such food products are refined sugars, saturated fats, carbonated and alcoholic drinks, caffeine and also a tobacco habit is as well toxic for the liver.

Toxins that are not excreted are stored in the liver cells, build up caused by poor eating habits or an unhealthy lifestyle can lead to toxic build ups that the liver is incapable of filtering or cleaning out. Once a build up occurs the liver’s functions are immediately compromised and in effect are risky for the rest of the organs that rely on the liver’s detox ability. Simply put the liver acts as shield or barrier and once it is broken into will be the downfall of the organs it has been working hard to protect.
